Research promotion scheme at SRM MHS
a. Chancellor Undergraduate/Postgraduate Research Fellowships
The UG and PG Students of all disciplines of SRMMHS are eligible for this scheme.
The call notification would will be given twice every year to all the Schools and Colleges of SRMMHS. Interested students have to develop a feasible research proposal in the format provided, under the guidance of a faculty member and submit three copies through HOD to respective Dean, which should be forwarded to the Dean, Research (MHS), SRMMHS. The call for fellowships will be in two cycles/year.
The Fellowship will be tenable only for the work conducted in the indicated Department at SRMMHS.
The fellow shall work in the departments of the University / constituent Colleges under the guidance of the recognized supervisor and under the overall supervision of the Head of the Department concerned.
During the tenure of the fellowship, the fellow must diligently engage in the identified topic of research. Arrangements need to be made to report his/her work and progress from time to time by the supervisor and the Head of the Department concerned.
Payment of the fellowship will be made based on the requisition sent by the fellow through the Supervisor/Head of the Department concerned.
Students who avail and complete their projects are encouraged to publish their research work in indexed journals.
The students can avail 50% concession on all the investigational charges that are normally levied by the Medical College Hospital. The cost of analysis in the research laboratories (DBT platform, Nanotechnology Research Centre) will be as per the University norms.
b. Chancellor Fellowship for Ph.D scholars
The Founder Chancellor Fellowships are open only to candidates opting for the Ph.D. programs of SRMMHS as full-time candidates.
A contingency grant of Rs.5,00,000 will be available for expenditure during the entire program, subject to completion in three years. Publications of research from this grant are encouraged.
The process of selection for the award of a contingency grant will be based on the recommendations of the Committee.
c. SRMMHS - Growth & Advancement towards Excellence (GATE) – Research Starter Grant
Entry-level faculty members of all faculties of SRMMHS at the level of Assistant Professor are eligible for this scheme.
This scheme is for young faculty members who start their teaching and research activity to develop preliminary research data. It is expected that the grantee should submit a grant to a national /international funding agency using this preliminary data.
The call for a research proposal would be made twice a year.
The duration of this one-time grant period is for two years from the date of sanction and the research is to be started within one month of receiving the sanction order, which is expected to be conducted by the faculty member him/herself. Hence no manpower would be supported in the grant.
A total budget of Rs.5,00,000/- would be provided and can be utilized for the project needs.
The PI can apportion the quantum under each head (eg. Lab consumable, Data management) as per the requirement with suitable justification within the maximum limit of Rs.5,00,000/-
Duration of Grant: Two years from the date of receipt of the grant award letter.
