Dr. Gisha Sivan is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Medical Research at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRMIST, Kattankulathur. A toxicologist by training, her primary research focuses on microplastics and emerging contaminants and their impact on human health, particularly respiratory, cardiovascular and reproductive health. She uses zebrafish as a disease model to understand how environmental pollutants affect organ systems, gut microbiota and disease mechanisms. Her work applies adverse outcome pathway approaches to identify toxic endpoints and molecular mechanisms, strengthening risk assessment. Her study connects experimental findings with human health outcomes in environmental and biomedical research.
